Buckeridge Door Co

There are many things I love about my little house and top on the list
is the unique place in history that it represents - constructed during
the post-WW2 housing boom but before the onset of suburbanization. The
house is still mostly intact as built, but I'm fairly certain our
garage door is not the original 1946 door. However, from the plaque on
the center panel, I'm guessing it hasn't been replaced since, oh,
maybe the late 50's or early 60's. Best thing about it, the Buckeridge
Door Co is still in business AND their phone number is still the same!
Now that is staying power.

Family of Man

I downloaded FX Photo Studio this afternoon and I have to say, I
really like this little app. It's easy to use and has lots of options
- my personal favorite being the ability to combine effects for some
pretty funky outcomes. I've been experimenting with a pic I took in
Calgary last year at the Family of Man sculpture. The piece is, well,
a bit creepy. I don't think that was the artists' intent, but a dozen
21' tall, naked, expressionless men and woman, wandering around a park
in the middle of town is disconcerting. I was never particularly
pleased with the pic as it doesn't do justice to the mood the
installation created that afternoon, but I am pleased with the outcome
of the editing.
